Abstract

Legal protection encompasses all efforts to safeguard human dignity and human rights within the realm of law. The objective of this research is to ascertain the legal protection afforded to domestic workers in Indonesia and the imperative of enacting legislation specifically aimed at safeguarding their rights from a human rights perspective. This study adopts a normative legal research approach, utilizing primary legal sources such as laws, and secondary legal sources including journals and books. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that numerous cases of domestic violence against domestic workers (PRT) persist. This is primarily attributed to the absence of a comprehensive legal framework governing the protection of domestic workers. While Domestic Workers are officially recognized as part of the workforce under Law Number 13 of 2003 concerning Employment, normatively they remain inadequately protected by this legislation. Therefore, there arises a pressing need for the formulation of a Draft Law on the Protection of Domestic Workers aimed at shielding them from abusive actions perpetrated by employers.
